Now that we have a clear idea of what we want to do and some idea of how to get there, it is time to commit to an appointment with yourself every week to concentrate of your planning, strategizing, measuring, prioritizing so you stay on the most direct path to success.

We are all so busy, constantly distracted by the world where everyone is in constant contact through email or text and we transition from one thing to another so often during the day, it surprises me that any of us get anything done in an expeditious manner.  So….it is time to commit.  Make an appointment with yourself every week that you do not let anyone distract you from where you sit down and focus on where you are, what has been accomplished, what needs to be done and prioritize your list.  For me, I schedule 3 hours every Monday morning.  It is in my calendar as my “quarterbacking” time and I start every week with coming back to center.  “OK, where was I?  What was it that I wanted to do last week?  What got accomplished?  What are the 2 or 3 things I need to concentrate on this week that will get me closer to my overall goal?”  In this way, I start the week off with renewed commitment to what I said I wanted to get done.  For others, Friday afternoon might be best.  The week is winding down and you can take the time to check in on your status.  I will allow for staff meetings to happen during my Monday Morning Quarterback appointments because a lot of what I want to accomplish in 2019 involves delegating more tasks to my staff.  And that time allows me to make sure they see my vision, how I want the firm to work, how their participation is critical to my success, etc.

Schedule that time in your week.  Make it a recurring appointment throughout the remainder of the year and use that time to breath in, slow down,     assess and redirect your energies toward the goals and tasks that you have already identified as being those that give you the most chance of achieving your lofty dreams and goals.  You will be surprised at how valuable this time will prove to be.  How just an hour or 2 of focus will make your world seem like it has more order to it and in that focus and order, you can accomplish great things
