This year will come to a quick close with the holidays coming up. We received a significant number of requests this year as the extended due dates for business and individual returns were coming due. It seemed a lot of people had trouble finding a firm that could accommodate the filing of their return as the extended due dates drew near. It might be a good idea to search for a CPA firm now, during our relative quiet time to make sure you have a firm to work with for your 2018 return. We have also found that many CPA firms are not accepting individuals any longer. As a firm, we work with individuals that own businesses. We provide services to the businesses and then the individuals who own them. But we no longer take individual clients unless they have a business or other complications to their return.
If other firms are following suit, which we think they are, you need to secure your client position with a firm before tax season hits and we are really busy, making it even more difficult to take on new clients.
If you own a business, rental properties, have other complexities, we would love to talk to you about filing your 2018 return. If your return is more traditional, then start looking for a firm that is taking new clients and get on their list for 2018. You don’t want to be scrambling like the 20 to 30 people we turned down between September 15 and October 15th this year. The deadlines are getting harder and harder to manage, so find a firm that will ensure your return gets filed for 2018.
